In this lesson, students will learn how to write and set time on a digital clock with 10 and 5 minutes. In addition, students will learn to differentiate between A.M. and P.M. Students will complete several activities in which they practice writing time and setting clocks to reflect the correct time using the adjustable clock tool.

Students will be able to properly write and set time on a digital clock with 10 and 5 minutes.
Students will be introduced to digital clocks and review writing time with quarter hours by rolling a dice and writing a quarter past the hour they landed on and a quarter to the hour they landed on.
Begin the lesson by reviewing how a digital clock operates. Have students practice writing the time to the nearest 10 minutes. Guide students in completing activities in which they practice writing time such as helping Danny the truck driver write down the times so he knows when to fill up gas for his road trip. Next, students write and set time with 5-minute increments. Have students complete activities such as adjusting digital clocks to show the correct time and listening to each time with our text-to-speech tool. Then, go over the difference between A.M. and P.M. and have students read statements and circle the time during which they will most likely occur.

Students will imagine they are going to have a campfire with their friends. They will decide which time they think this event is most likely to occur. They will set the clock to reflect that time and write it on the lines provided. Finally, they will circle if the campfire will occur in the A.M. or P.M.
