The brain is one of the most important organs in the body controlling our actions, thoughts, and feelings. This lesson will teach students about the major parts of the brain and how each of those parts work together to help us perform all necessary tasks on a daily basis.

Students will be able to describe the functions of the brain and identify the main parts of the brain, including the cerebrum, cerebellum, and the brain stem.
The lesson begins with a description of how the brain is like a remote-controlled car. It is what helps you perform the tasks you need to carry out every day and what helps your body run smoothly. Students learn how the brain helps to perform both voluntary and involuntary actions.
Students learn about the nervous system and how messages are transmitted. Using the pencil tool, students will trace the passageways for different scenarios like the path of a message sent from the ears to the brain and then down to the feet and legs. Students learn about the three main parts of the brain: the cerebrum, cerebellum, and brain stem and their different functions. Ask students which lobe controls different functions like remembering answers for a test or seeing images in a video.
Students respond to ten questions consisting of true or false, multiple-choice, and fill-ins.
To conclude, students learn about the dated theory of being left-brained and right-brained and drag qualities like “artistic,” “scientific,” and “logical” to the appropriate label.
