In this lesson, students will In this lesson, students will learn the letters U-Z. They will have a sneak peek at hearing beginning sounds. The focus of this lesson is recognizing and naming the letters U-Z.

Students will be able to recognize and name the uppercase and lowercase letters U-Z. Ask students why it is important to learn the alphabet.
Students will drag lowercase letters to match their uppercase letters.
Students will be introduced to each letter, U-Z. They will trace a path from the uppercase to the lowercase for each letter. U is for umbrella. V is for vase. W is for whale. X os for x-ray. Y is for yarn. Z is for zebra.
Students will listen to speakers read words (with pictures) and identify the beginning sounds to match to letters. They will also drag lowercase letters to their corresponding speakers. They will highlight apples that contain uppercase letters. They will drag the uppercase letters to their lowercase matches. They will then put the fish in fishbowls with uppercase letters.
Students will respond to ten questions in which they match upper and lowercase letters and also match pictures to the letters they start with.
Students will recall what they learned:
- What can you do when you know all of the letters in the alphabet?
- Can you name all of the letters in the alphabet?
Students will play a memory game to match the uppercase and lowercase letters. Lastly, they will play "I Spy" and identify all the uppercase letters.
