Learning objective
Students will be able to recognize and print the letter Ii, as well as determine if a word has an Ii sound.
Introduction
Students will match uppercase to lowercase letters for A-H to reveal their guide for the letter Ii, Imani the Imp. They will review how to write the letter Hh.
Instruction
Imani the Imp will have her best friend, Max, demonstrate how to write the letter Ii. Students will then practice writing uppercase and lowercase Ii on the board and on their own paper. Two students can race to complete a puzzle that makes the letter Ii.
Students will then practice and pronounce the short and long Ii sounds. They will get to name as many words that start with the Ii as they can think of! They’ll also get to use their letter Ii knowledge to complete a fun activity that will help Imani the Imp get back to her home planet.

Review the letter Ii with 10 questions on identifying and writing the letter Ii.
Closing
Students will review how to write the letter Ii and then decorate the word “Hi.”
