The lesson teaches about the geography, government, religion, and daily life of the Ancient Egyptians. Students will also learn about Ancient Egyptian advances in technology and science as well as the significance of the Nile River.

Have students discuss what they already know about ancient Egypt. Can they name any rulers? What do they imagine daily life was like?
Introduce the Nile River and explain its importance in ancient Egyptian civilization. Describe the red and black land on either side of the river. Describe how Egyptians built irrigation canals and grew crops like wheat and linens. After this, have students drag the checkmark or X to determine if the statements are true or false. Then go over the social classes and explain the roles of pharaohs, priests, farmers, etc. Next, discuss daily life for women and children as well as the religion in Ancient Egypt. Have students use the graphic organizer to list 8 words that come to mind when they think of Ancient Egypt.
